What to expect during your first counselling session?
There is no need to worry.
The first meeting is an opportunity for the psychologist to learn more about you and to get basic information about your reasons for seeking professional help. During the counselling session, the psychologist may ask a variety of questions that can help you understand your emotions, thought and behaviour patterns.
During the counselling session, the psychologist uses a variety of therapeutic approaches and techniques through which you will gain insight; he/she will teach you to develop coping strategies, and achieve the set therapeutic goals.
Trust, openness and active cooperation between the client and the psychologist are crucial for the effectiveness of the therapeutic process.
